{"id":584,"date":"2024-11-14T18:30:35","date_gmt":"2024-11-14T18:30:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/visualstressclinic.ca\/?page_id=584"},"modified":"2026-01-21T01:34:13","modified_gmt":"2026-01-21T01:34:13","slug":"multiple-sclerosis","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/opticalm.ca\/fr\/multiple-sclerosis\/","title":{"rendered":"Scl\u00e9rose en plaques"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"et_pb_section_0 et_pb_section et_section_regular et_block_section\">\n<div class=\"et_pb_row_0 et_pb_row et_block_row\">\n<div class=\"et_pb_column_0 et_pb_column et_pb_column_2_3 et_block_column et_pb_css_mix_blend_mode_passthrough\">\n<div class=\"et_pb_accordion_0 et_pb_accordion et_pb_module et_block_module preset--module--divi-accordion--1d4c8462-fda3-45f8-8b7c-cf670041e540\">\n<div class=\"et_pb_text_0 et_pb_text et_pb_bg_layout_light et_pb_module et_block_module preset--module--divi-text--32c4d5c6-ac4d-49d3-9b52-38ab407aae5b\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><h4><span style=\"color: #000000;\">(MS)<\/span><\/h4>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Multiple sclerosis<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In 2007 a\u202fresearch paper published in the Journal of Neurology\u202ffound that\u202f\u201cspectral filters can improve reading and visual search in patients with multiple sclerosis.\" [<a href=\"https:\/\/www1.essex.ac.uk\/psychology\/overlays\/2007-176.pdf\">1<\/a>] The following is an excerpt from that paper:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Cortical hyperexcitability has been reported in patients with various neurological conditions and is\u202fconsistent with three observations in patients with multiple sclerosis:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Moreau et al. demonstrated that 17\/402 (4%) of their\u202fpatients with multiple sclerosis experienced at least one\u202fepileptic seizure;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Gee et al. demonstrated that\u202f61.7% of their sample of 70 male and 207 female patients with multiple sclerosis who\u202freturned a\u202f\u202fcompleted questionnaire had reportedly experienced\u202fmigraines;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Patients with multiple sclerosis\u202fmay reveal hyperexcitability of the motor cortex.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Patients with multiple sclerosis\u202fhave also\u202freported\u202fexperiencing migraines, epileptic seizures, visual discomfort, perceptual distortions, cognitive fatigue and brain fog.\u202fSince spectral filters have been shown to reduce these symptoms in individuals with other neurological\u202fconditions\u202f(photosensitive epilepsy, migraine, autism and dyslexia), the\u202fteam\u202finvestigated the possible benefit of using Intuitive Overlays (spectral filters)\u202fto reduce symptoms.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Overlays in 10 colours were offered to be paced over the page during reading and visual search.
